Ackerman House – A House Since 1811…

Ackerman House is the oldest producer of fine sparkling wines in the Loire Valley. Its story began in 1811 thanks to Jean-Baptiste (/ʒɑːn bæpˈtiːst/) Ackerman, a wine merchant who recognised the Loire Valley’s natural potential for producing sparkling wines.

The cellar, carved into tuffeau stone in a troglodyte setting, provides the ideal conditions for naturally sparkling wines and offers optimal conditions for the long and slow aging process of these remarkable wines.

Ackerman cellar specialises in producing wines under the Crémant de Loire (/kreɪˈmɒ̃ də lwɑːr/) and Saumur appellations, using the Traditional Method. Combining tradition and innovation, its blends—expressive and aromatic in style—offer both great gastronomic cuvées and more daring selections, perfect for all your tasting occasions.

A sensory promise dear to its founder, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman:
“Bubbles are ephemeral, emotion is eternal.”

Ackerman House – Did you know?

In the 1850s, Jean-Baptiste Ackerman partnered with his son Louis Ferdinand (/ˈfɜːrdɪnænd/) in the sparkling wine venture. Together, they created the “Royal” brand, which they marketed in England. With such a name, they set out to conquer the tables of the royal court and became the official supplier to Queen Victoria.
